WERD started out as Røsler Distribution in 1995 founded by Jakob Nielsen and Torben Røsler, and born out of the mid 90’s internet boom. By simply focusing on buying and selling high-tech commodities and delivering great service the company grew steadily from being the two founders to more than 10 people in just a few years.
When the dotcom-crisis hit in the late 90´s and early 00´s, the company managed to stay on track by holding on to long-term business relations, having a global network of partners and by doing a solid business acumen.
After the dotcom-crisis and up through the 00´s the company continued to grow in tandem with the global market recovery. In 2013 the company name was changed to WERD, a contraction of WE aRe Distribution. The name change was intended to reflect the core identity of the company and the importance of our employees. At the same time, Troels Bjerregaard became a partner, as he bought a percentage of the company from the two founders.
Later that year WERD moved to a new location in Copenhagen. The new tailor made office- and logistic facility was built to fulfill the desire of securing the future growth of the company and its employees.
In November 2015, a management buyout was completed as CEO Jakob Nielsen bought out the founding partner. However, in order to maintain and secure a common ground for the future of the company Troels Bjerregaard bought-in more shares of the company and are today an assimilated partner with Jakob Nielsen.
The changes in the management brought along new perspectives on how to take the company to the next level. Due to an open-minded approach from the management a very positive energy made everyone contribute at holding momentum throughout the year.
2016 has been a year with exciting changes and remarkable progress. There has been set clear ambitions and visions for the company which turns out in specific strategies for the coming years. In the year of 2016 WERD experienced growth in number of employees and turnover and the future at WERD looks brighter than ever.
